Contractor training guide

How Strawboss can help with ISNetworld and ComplyWorks training records

Build training from your procedures, track who completes it, and prepare evidence for the requirements your hiring clients set.

When a hiring client uses ISNetworld or ComplyWorks, contractors may need to show that workers have completed specific training before they can start a project. The exact courses and evidence depend on the client, role, and site. Keeping the training current is one job; finding proof for every worker is another.

Strawboss helps you create training from your own safety material, assign it to workers, and keep completion records together. Those records can support a portal submission, provided they meet the hiring client's current requirements.

1. Start with your policies and procedures

Most contractors already have written safety policies, procedures, and programs. Strawboss can turn that source material into an e-learning course, so you do not have to build every lesson from a blank page. Watch the course builder video to see the process. Review the generated course against the approved procedure before you assign it. That check matters: the training should match the way your company actually works.

2. Let workers complete training around the job

Assign the course to the people who need it. Workers can complete online modules when their schedule allows, without bringing an entire crew into a classroom at once. A short window before a shift or between tasks may be enough for one module. Site-specific or practical training may still require an instructor, demonstration, or separate assessment.

3. Track completion in one place

The Strawboss admin portal shows course assignments and completions, so a safety lead can see who has finished and where follow-up is needed. Before submitting evidence, check the worker name, course title, completion date, and any quiz or competency information the hiring client asks for. A completion record only helps when it can be matched to the right person and requirement.

4. Export the records for portal review

Download training records from Strawboss as PDF or CSV, then use the format the relevant ISNetworld or ComplyWorks requirement accepts. Match each record to the correct worker and training item before uploading it. The portal or hiring client may ask for additional details, a different document, or a separate qualification; an export by itself does not guarantee approval.

Check the requirement first. ISNetworld says its reviewers assess training documents against hiring-client requirements, which can include the course name, employee name, training date, and instructor information. ComplyWorks also tracks training and certifications. Confirm the current fields, file format, and approval status in your own account before treating a record as complete.

5. Use an AI assistant for the upload, if your setup supports it

Strawboss offers an MCP connection for compatible AI assistants. If the assistant also has authorized browser control, it may be able to retrieve records and help enter them in a contractor portal. Give it access only to the records and account it needs, and review the selected files, submission details, and final portal status. Portal workflows and permissions vary, so test this process with your own account before relying on it.

A practical workflow for each new project

  1. List the hiring client's training requirements by role and site.
  2. Turn approved company procedures into courses and review the content.
  3. Assign training and follow up with workers who have not completed it.
  4. Check each completion record against the portal's evidence requirements.
  5. Export, submit, and verify that the portal accepted the evidence.

That sequence helps keep a new project from turning into a last-minute search through files. Strawboss supports the course and record side of the work; the hiring client and contractor management portal decide what evidence satisfies each requirement.
