AI in construction safety

How to introduce AI into your construction safety program.

Start with a familiar admin task. Keep the people who understand the work involved, review the output, and measure the time saved.

1. Choose one repeatable task

Pick a task you can compare before and after: rebuilding a paper form, capturing answers, or preparing a training course. Define what a usable result looks like before you start.

2. Use material your team already knows

Start with the current form, a training topic, or approved company procedures. Check that the source material is current and appropriate for the task.

3. Decide who reviews the result

Have a person who understands the task check the generated fields, captured answers, or training content. Make corrections before publishing, submitting, or assigning the material.

4. Measure the complete workflow

Record how long the task takes using your current process. Then time the AI-assisted process, including setup, review, and corrections. Compare tasks of similar scope and check that the final output meets the same requirements.

Time saved is the current-process time minus the complete AI-assisted time. If a task takes 30 minutes today and 20 minutes with AI including review, the saving is 10 minutes. This is an illustrative calculation, not a measured Strawboss result.

5. Try it with a small crew

Ask the workers and reviewers whether the form is clear and the result is usable. Note missing information, corrections, and any steps that add work. Repeat the comparison before expanding the workflow.

6. Expand from your own results

Keep the workflows that save time and produce an acceptable reviewed result. Adjust the ones that do not. Keep recording review time and corrections as you introduce new tasks.
